Featuring traditional Chinese music and dance by acknowledged artists

Toronto - Saturday May 18, Falun Gong practitioners will host the “Sounds of Brilliance and Promise Concert” at the University of Toronto’s Convocation Hall as part of the Falun Dafa Week celebrating its 10th Anniversary.

The event will feature traditional musical, dance and acting performances written, composed and performed by acknowledged artists who are also Falun Gong practitioners.

"The beauty that these performers exude on stage is breath taking! As the ancient saying goes: the good music comes from composers with virtue,” said Joel Chipkar, who has practiced Falun Dafa for 3 years.

“They perform to celebrate the teachings of Falun Gong, its principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, and the joy they have brought to people throughout the world. At the same time, we seek to honor the courage, compassion and strength that people who practice Falun Dafa in China have displayed over the past nearly three years in the face of Chinese president's vicious persecution."

Performers include Chen Rutang, Chen Ningfang and Chen Ying: Chen Rutang and Chen Ningfang are China’s national first-class performers, and cellist and flutist of China Central Orchestra for 33 years. Their daughter Chen Ying is the last student of the chief flute performer Panitz of the Philadelphia Philharmonic Orchestra. Jiang Min is a professional traditional Chinese singer from the US. The concert is organized and choreographed by Ms. Tia Zhang, an acclaimed dancer in China and a teacher of over 20 years at the National Ballet School of Canada. The evening will be hosted by Michael Mahonen, Gemini-award winning actor and star of Road to Avonlea.

The performers hope sincerely this concert will bring everyone peacefulness and happiness.
